Store Closing Procedures and Information for Consignors
GearME will remain open with regular business hours until November 30th, 2023. From December 1st through 15th, we will be on-site for consignor business only.
We have always valued our consignors, and we intend to fully
resolve our commitments despite closing our doors.

We are requesting that all consignors, both past and current, complete this survey as soon as possible. We have over 1,000 consignors, so it's important we have organized and efficient communications. You may ask questions as part of the survey.
FAQ
How and when can I pick up a check for my remaining balance?
That depends on when you request your payout.
-
Payouts requested prior to 12/15/23:
-
You may schedule a date any time before December 15th to pick up your check. We require that you set a pickup date in advance by completing the Consignor Survey.
-
NOTE in-store pick-up is the only available option for several weeks. Checks will not be available by mail until January through March, 2024
-
-
Payouts requested after 12/15/23, and those who need checks mailed:
-
We will not have a storefront after 12/15/23. After that, communication will be by email only.
-
Starting January through March, 2024, checks will be available by mail for a $1 processing fee. Complete the Consignor Survey to request a check.
-
-
We request that you wait to pick up your check until you have no remaining items on consignment. This will simplify the process to print just one final payment check at the end.
-
After March 31st 2025, all remaining consignor money will be turned over to the state of Maine, to be held on reserve. As we approach that date, we'll update this information with contact information for the state.
-

What if I signed up to take my payouts as in-store credit instead of receiving checks?
-
All consignors accrue proceeds from the sale of items as Consignor Credit. Some consignors choose to take this credit as a check and other choose to take it for in-store use only. We casually refer to the in-store use money as "store credit", but it is technically categorized as Consignor Credit.
-
If, when you filled out your consignment agreement, you selected "Store Credit" as your profit share, you are still accruing Consignor Credit, which has cash value.
-
-
Your payout will be re-calculated at the standard cash rate of 45% of the item's sale price
What if I have items currently consigned at GearME?
-
You can schedule a date to pick up your items any time between now and December 15th. If you'd like to leave them until the end, plan to pick them up between December 1st and 15th. During that time, the store will be available for consignor business only, and must be scheduled in advance.
-
It is critical that you schedule a pick-up date by completing the Consignor Survey. This will help us maintain some order during a time of managed chaos.
-
We cannot ship remaining items, so they must be picked up in-person at the store.
What if I have Store Credit or Rewards Credit?
-
Consignor accounts have three varieties of money that can accrue:
-
Consignor Credit: All consignors accrue proceeds from the sale of items as Consignor Credit. Some consignors choose to take this credit as a check and other choose to take it for in-store use only. We casually refer to the in-store use money as "store credit", but it is technically categorized as Consignor Credit. (see previous answer)
-
If, when you filled out your consignment agreement, you selected "Store Credit" as your profit share, you are still accruing Consignor Credit, which has cash value.
-
-
Rewards Credit: Customers and consignors can accrue rewards money based on purchases made in the store. Rewards Credit is not the same as cash and cannot be paid out as cash.
-
Store Credit: Customers and consignors can accrue store credit, generally from store promotions and returns. Gift cards are also considered Store Credit. Store Credit is not the same as cash and cannot be paid out as cash.
-
What if I don't intend to pick up my final payment?
-
GearME intends to resolve all financial commitments to consignors. However, some consignors have indicated that they would like to forfeit their remaining balance. Please complete the Consignor Survey to let us know your intentions.
Will my remaining items be deeply discounted?
-
As we prepare to close our doors, we may begin discounting remaining items up to 20% off
-
If we choose to discount further, those discounts will be absorbed by the store and will not affect consignor proceeds.
Can I still access my consignor account?
-
Online access to consignor account will remain available until March 31st, 2024. If you need info about your account balance after that date, we will have a contact form available here for you to reach out.
What if I have more questions?
-
We'd be happy to talk on the phone or answer questions in person. As we attempt to continue operating the store as usual through the end of November, we request that you schedule a time for a phone call or in-person visit. Please complete the Consignor Survey to schedule a phone call.
