Rental Policies (Important! Please Read!)

  • Equipment can be rented for one full day (9:00 - 4:30) or as many as 7 days.

  • Rentals must be requested at least 24 hours in advance.

  • Payment in full must be received to hold reservation. An invoice will be sent at the time of reservation confirmation and it must be paid within 24 hours or the reservation will be released.

  • Each group must have a primary renter that is 21 years old or older. All items will be rented to that individual. He/she will be responsible for ensuring the safety of others in the group, including adults and children, and ensuring appropriate treatment of equipment. A current driver's license or photo ID must be presented at time of pick-up.

  • Winter Rentals: Individuals using rental equipment during the winter must be fully prepared for the extremes of Maine winter, even during short outings. This includes, at a minimum, appropriate layers of synthetic or wool clothing with a waterproof outer layer, hat and gloves, insulated boots, extra layer, hand warmers, a light source, and energy food.

  • Summer Rentals: You must respect the power of the ocean, rivers, streams, lakes, and ponds. They can kill you if you do not take the proper precautions.

    • ALL PEOPLE ARE REQUIRED TO WEAR A PROPERLY-FITTED PERSONAL FLOTATION DEVICE (PFD) WHILE BOATING OR PADDLEBOARDING IN ANY CAPACITY. You understand that use of a PFD does not remove all risks of injury, nor does use of a PFD make boating or paddleboarding inherently safe.

    • Up to two (2) PFDs are supplied by GearME with every boat rental. Additional PFDs are available to rent.

  • Consumption of drugs and alcohol are not permitted during use of rental equipment.

  • Upon pick-up, renter must inspect all equipment carefully and report any missing or damaged items to a staff member. Failure to note any discrepancies may result in a fee for damaged or missing equipment.

  • Equipment must be returned by 4:30 pm on the scheduled date. Items not returned by 5:00pm will incur an additional 1-day rental fee for each day the equipment is not returned.

  • A cleaning fee of $15.00 per item will be collected if it is not returned in the same condition in which you received it. You will be charged a fee up to the brand new replacement cost of the Rental Equipment if it returned damaged, or not returned, regardless of the age of the Rental Equipment at the time of rental. GearME shall determine, in its sole discretion, if damaged Rental Equipment will be repaired or replaced at your expense.

  • The Primary Renter is responsible for the safe transportation of all Rental Equipment. GearME staff shall approve the security of the load of any Rental Equipment strapped or affixed to a vehicle. You may request our assistance (which we are happy to provide) with the loading and securing of Rental Equipment to a vehicle, but the Primary Renter is solely responsible for securing the Rental Equipment properly. Appropriate and additional load-securing accessories, such as foam blocks or additional straps, may be available upon request.
